Who can resist the enchanting allure of Catalina Island’s vibrant underwater world? This project draws inspiration from research on fish habitats, transforming that knowledge into an exquisite wooden installation that captures the unique rhythm of marine life.
The installation features six intricately carved fish, each adorned with traditional Chinese fish patterns and arranged at varying heights to enhance visual depth. The contrast between the red fish patterns and the natural wood texture adds artistic tension, imbuing the piece with rich cultural significance.
These fish not only symbolize the graceful beauty of marine life but also serve as a metaphor for the delicate balance of natural ecosystems. Their dynamic postures evoke the sensation of swimming through flowing water, immersing viewers in the serenity and vitality of the ocean while prompting reflection on humanity’s coexistence with nature. Projected ocean wave patterns further amplify this immersive experience, making the installation appear as if it is suspended within invisible currents, embodying the fluidity and timeless rhythm of life.
