As global warming accelerates, its impact reaches beyond environmental concerns, deeply affecting vulnerable populations like the homeless. Rising temperatures have become a silent killer, increasing suicide and homicide rates among those living on the streets. In this experience design, I recreate a homeless camp with a heated tent to simulate the stifling conditions homeless individuals endure. A monitor displays data from ten Southern California counties, correlating temperature rises with increased suicide and homicide rates. Participants enter the heated tent and are encouraged to document their feelings of anxiety and depression, raising awareness of the human toll of climate change.
